Maire Grupp, LSW
Hello and welcome. If you are navigating changes in your life and are looking for a professional to help support and guide that process, I am here to help.
I'm passionate about helping people walk through life transitions. That may mean adjusting to retirement, parenthood, the death or loss of a loved one, a move, a new career, a divorce, a breakup or even health diagnoses that includes changes in ability and energy. I’ve also worked closely with many individuals who have taken on the responsibility of caring for a loved one and all the complexity that comes with that role.
Many parents I’ve worked with have struggled with postpartum anxiety, postpartum depression, postpartum OCD, or even postpartum psychosis. Helping parents find a balance between caring for a new baby and maintaining their own health and wellbeing is a top priority in my work.
Additionally, I especially enjoy working with older adults. My therapeutic style involves listening deeply to your experiences and helping you draw on the wisdom you already carry to make connections and solve the problems you’re facing now. My goal is to empower you to identify the lessons your life has taught you and bring those into the present moment.
My background includes hospice and grief counseling, crisis response, and community mental health case management. My passion for quality care began in my work as a Direct Support Professional in group home settings and grew as I completed my Master’s in Social Work at Indiana University South Bend, with a focus in Mental Health and Addictions Studies.
My work in hospice and bereavement has taught me so much about the way people grow through grief and the many ways a loved one’s legacy continues on. While loss can be devastating, it can also be a powerful catalyst for growth, reflection, and change. Transitions in life can feel like a rollercoaster. It’s natural seek support and guidance to ensure you are not navigating these changes alone.
My time working in community mental health showed me that people have an incredible capacity for resilience. I believe that healing happens in connection and that care should be tailored to the reality of your world and the context of your identity. So much of healing is a return to self, or maybe discovering who you are now.
In my work with you, I will use an eclectic and individualized approach, drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities to fit your specific needs including:
-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
-Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
-Motivational Interviewing (MI)
-Nature Informed Therapy (NIT)
-Complicated Grief Therapy (CGT)
-Creative expression
I’ve completed training through the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) Institute for Hope and Healing to better serve military members, veterans and their families. I have also completed extensive training in dementia and end-of-life care. My experience is in helping people navigate caregiving, grief and loss, identity shifts and the complexities that come with major life transitions. I take a culturally informed, person-centered approach and I value collaboration with other professionals.
I offer evening and weekend availability so sessions can better fit your lifestyle and schedule. If you have questions or would like to connect, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
